Google to Pay SpaceX $920 Million per Month for xAI Data Center Computing Capacity

SpaceX has signed a large-scale, 32-month infrastructure deal to lease AI computing capacity to Google.

Google will use approximately 110,000 Nvidia GPUs built into SpaceX's data centers, along with core computing resources such as CPUs and memory. The deal is aimed at securing bridge capacity to meet the surging customer demand for Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise.

The key terms of the contract are as follows:

• Contract period: From October this year to June 2029
• Monthly fee: $920 million
• Safeguard: If SpaceX fails to provide access to the promised number of GPUs by September 2026, Google has the option to immediately terminate the contract or reduce the fee.

This is the second major infrastructure deal SpaceX has signed since merging with xAI last February. Previously, Anthropic also announced a deal to use the entire capacity of SpaceX's Colossus 1 data center.

This move shows that SpaceX has begun monetizing its data centers and competing with neoclouds such as CoreWeave and Nebius. Google, too, continues its aggressive investment, raising its capital expenditure outlook to secure competitive AI infrastructure.
