WWDC25: Apple's Future Seen Through Liquid Glass and Foundation Models

Apple showcased its next-generation interface, Liquid Glass UI, and the Foundation Models framework for its on-device AI strategy through WWDC25. This update goes beyond a simple OS update, symbolizing a philosophical integration of Apple's platforms.

Liquid Glass UI is the biggest change since iOS 7, offering visual effects utilizing the reflection and refraction of light along with a new interaction paradigm that responds to user input. It is expected to be applied across all OSes, including visionOS, to be used in blurring the boundary between reality and the virtual.

Key changes are as follows:

• iOS 26: Unifying the version number to 26 across all platforms, emphasizing platform integration
• Apple Intelligence: Close integration of AI with native apps, such as real-time translation in Messages and camera information analysis
• Changes in the development environment: Liquid Glass is applied by default in Xcode 26, and related features have also been added to design tools such as Figma
