GitHub CEO Visits KakaoTech, Shares Copilot Phase 2 Roadmap and AI Agent Strategy

GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke visited KakaoTech on March 25 to engage in dialogue with Kakao GD and technical leaders. CEO Dohmke shared the 2025 roadmap as the second phase of Copilot, presenting multi-model utilization, enhanced AI agent capabilities, and the establishment of an AI-native development environment as core directions. In particular, he demonstrated how AI supports development workflows through an Agent Mode demo. Both sides discussed the issue of increased code review burden due to AI adoption, and GitHub plans to apply the PR assignment feature currently available in VS Code Insiders to the stable version. CEO Dohmke emphasized "judgment on whether to use AI tools" as a necessary competency for developers in the AI era, explaining that this is a decision-making process similar to choosing open-source libraries in the past. He also predicted that trustworthy technology, including security and compliance, will become a competitive advantage.
