Kakao Sponsors the 4th National Startup Competition for College Students with and without Disabilities

Kakao participated as a sponsor in the 4th National Startup Competition for College Students with and without Disabilities, continuing its support for the third consecutive year. Held from February 4 to 7, 2025, at BEXCO and Hanwha Resort in Busan, this competition was a hackathon and mock startup event where students with and without disabilities formed teams to implement sustainable growth (ESG) models.

A total of 105 college students and related personnel, amounting to over 150 participants, took on the challenge of solving social problems through technology. Participants went beyond merely proposing ideas by developing actual prototypes and seeking practical solutions to alleviate inconveniences caused by disabilities. Notably, the Grand Prize-winning team, which received the Minister of Education Award, drew attention by creating a prototype of a wearable Braille output device that overcame the two-character output limitation of existing products.

Beyond simple sponsorship, Kakao supported students through various means, including expert mentoring, participation as speakers and judges, and attendance at the awards ceremony. This sponsorship, which followed Jeju (2nd edition) and Kakao AI Campus (3rd edition) and continued to Busan (4th edition), is an activity linked to Kakao's mission of creating a better world through technology.
