Kakao Shares Data Engineer Roles and Development Culture at PNU Industry-Academia Exchange

Kakao's Ad Recommendation Team and Developer Relations team attended the 'Tech Week 2022' industry-academia exchange hosted by the Department of Information and Computer Engineering at Pusan National University to network with students. This event was planned to restore communication between academia and industry and share technical expertise, featuring participation by three Kakao alumni and one current developer.

The exchange took place at the 10.16 Memorial Hall on the Jangjeon Campus with approximately 100 students in attendance, structured into three sessions. The first session introduced Kakao's corporate culture, welfare benefits, and work environment. The second session covered data engineer roles and real-world work cases from the Ad Recommendation Team. The final session allowed students to ask real-time questions via Open Chat rooms, with alumni providing answers.

Attendees exchanged information on job preparation and career direction as developers. In the future, Kakao plans to expand industry-academia collaboration through more diverse activities such as thesis reviews and hackathons.
