Building a Private Bookmark Manager and Browser Extension in Replit [Webinar]

A live session covering the process of building a private bookmark manager and Chrome extension from scratch using Replit Agent. Of the roughly 2 hours of work, the initial build cost only $5.58.

The session emphasized the importance of prompt engineering for successful development. Rather than simply requesting code, the key is preparing sophisticated prompts that include detailed context such as Manifest v3 requirements, color schemes, icons, and database structure (users, bookmarks, tags).

Various problem-solving processes encountered during actual development were also shared:

• Extension authentication issues: debugging through URL configuration
• Database migration: handling structural changes that arise when adding AI features
• Performance optimization: handling large payloads and adjusting server limits

The session also demonstrated the scalability of AI agent-based development by integrating OpenAI to add an AI-powered content summarization feature that analyzes saved bookmarks and automatically generates tags.
