Flexible Layout Customization with Splits

Replit has introduced Splits, a feature that allows users to fully and freely configure their workspace layout. Moving away from the existing static layout, users can now remove panels or quickly rearrange them to focus on their work.

The core of Splits is an intuitive drag-and-drop approach. Layouts are adjusted using each panel's header and its four directional 'quadrants.'

• Panel splitting: Dropping onto a panel's quadrant creates a new panel.
• Tab merging: Dragging a tab or panel onto a header merges it into a single panel.
• Various options: Maximize, which expands a panel to full screen, and Float, which lets a panel move freely, are provided.

Users can move not just tabs but entire panels, and can also drag files directly from the file tree to create new panels. This flexible layout is designed to support users' diverse working styles and boost productivity.
