Editable Repl Embedding Feature Discontinued

Replit will discontinue the editable embedded Repl feature starting August 1st, converting it to Read-only. Existing embeds will still be able to read and run code, but will no longer be editable.

The main reasons behind this decision are as follows:

• Preventing server abuse: Embedded Repls are often run anonymously, which can place excessive load on servers.
• Security risk: There is a security vulnerability where Clickjacking can force users to interact with malicious code.
• Maintenance efficiency: Actual usage rates are very low, so maintaining the feature was judged to be an inefficient use of resources.

For educators, Replit offers Replit Teams for Education, optimized for managing coding assignments and providing feedback, as an alternative. This service recently became free, and provides a much more structured learning environment than the previous manual embedding method.
