Outbound Data Transfer Limit Notice

Starting April 7, Replit will apply limits to outbound data that developers send externally through Repls. Inbound data transfer will remain free.

The monthly base allowances by plan are as follows:

• Free: 10 GiB
• Hacker: 50 GiB
• Pro: 100 GiB

Additional data beyond the allowance can be purchased via Cycles or billing at a cost of $0.10 per GiB. Once the limit is reached, data transfer may be throttled or stopped, and usage resets at UTC midnight each month.

This measure is intended to prevent platform abuse such as proxying, file streaming, cryptocurrency mining, and API brute-force attacks. Since such activities consume excessive bandwidth and degrade service quality for all users, Replit aims to reduce costs and improve service quality through system-wide limits.

Recommendations for optimizing data usage are as follows:

• WebSockets: Reduce ping frequency or switch to an event-driven system to reduce payloads.
• Pingers: Conserve bandwidth by reducing ping frequency or payload size.
• File sharing: For video content, it is more efficient to use dedicated services like YouTube or Vimeo.
