Replit Launches Beta Feature Based on OpenAI Codex

Replit is beta testing a new feature that leverages OpenAI's Codex model to lower the barrier to entry for programming.

The key feature, Explain Code, explains what a piece of code actually does when you select code within JavaScript and Python files. This allows beginners or developers analyzing existing projects to quickly understand how the code works.

How to use Explain Code:

• Highlight a code block (such as a function or declaration).
• Click the 'Explain Code' button.
• Review the generated explanation. (Since this is based on an ML model, results may not be perfect, and the model's performance is improved through user feedback.)

In the future, features such as analyzing the causes of code errors, explaining compiler errors, and interactive code formatting will also be rolled out. This feature will be offered first to Hacker plan or Teams for Education users.
