Replit carried out a 10-week stability sprint to simplify and stabilize its systems amid a period of rapid growth. To resolve the severe latency issues that occurred in late September, the company distributed Postgres connections, cached frequently queried objects, and introduced Rate limits. As a result, latency has remained stable.

Websocket connection success rates also improved significantly, rising from 97% to 99.5%. In particular, the 99th percentile (p99) loading time was reduced from over 2 minutes to 10-15 seconds, thanks to speeding up container destruction during machine shutdown, which resolved system lock issues.

Data conflict issues that occurred during reconnection between the browser and container have also been improved. The rate of warning popups requiring users to choose between local changes and server changes was reduced from 2.81% to 1.5%, with plans to bring this down close to 0% going forward.

The key to this improvement was not simply addressing surface-level symptoms, but finding and fundamentally eliminating the biggest bottleneck hindering growth.
