Anthropic and Amazon Expand Compute Collaboration with Up to 5GW of New Capacity

Anthropic has expanded its collaboration with Amazon, securing up to 5GW of new capacity for training and deploying Claude. This agreement includes Trainium2 capacity coming online in the first half of this year, and approximately 1GW of Trainium2/Trainium3 capacity arriving by the end of 2026.

Anthropic will invest over $100 billion in AWS technology over the next decade, continuing its hardware strategy spanning Graviton and Trainium2 through Trainium4. It also plans to increase Claude infrastructure on Amazon Bedrock and expand inference capacity into Asia and Europe to better serve international customers.

• Claude Platform on AWS will soon be offered directly, accessible through the same account, same controls, and same billing system.
• Amazon is investing $5 billion today, with the potential for an additional $20 billion investment going forward. This is in addition to the existing $8 billion investment.
• Anthropic stated that its annualized revenue has surpassed $30 billion, but that surging demand from Free, Pro, Max, and Team tiers has increased strain on reliability and performance during peak hours.
