Banksalad Builds 'Data Discovery Platform' to Improve Data Accessibility

Banksalad's Data Foundation team built and deployed a Data Discovery Platform so that all members can easily derive data-driven insights. Previously, inefficient processes such as writing complex SQL, grasping table context, and data synchronization acted as major barriers to analysis.

Platform Selection and Architecture

Through an internal team vote, DataHub was selected as the final platform. DataHub's intuitive UI and high usability, which allow easy access even for non-development roles, were cited as its strengths. The architecture was designed so that Airflow DAG collects metadata from various sources such as MySQL and AWS Glue, which is then ingested at the DataHub Serving stage.

Key Features and Expected Effects

The platform provides the latest specifications and statistical information for all tables in the analytics environment. Users can instantly check column statistics and sample data through the SQL Profile feature without executing a query. In addition, the Lineage feature allows visual tracking of table creation processes and pipeline connections, contributing to improved reliability and transparency of financial data.
