Google invests in first Alpine data center in Austria

Google is building its first data center in Kronstorf, Austria. The facility will create 100 direct jobs and support Google's growing digital services and AI demand. This will help Austria stay at the forefront of innovation.

The facility is part of Google's ongoing digital infrastructure investments across Europe. Google stated it aims to boost Europe's competitiveness through AI and digital technology.

Sustainability and community support are also emphasized.

• To improve water quality in the Enns river, Google will set up a water quality improvement fund together with the Upper Austrian Fisheries Association.
• Green roofs with solar panels will be applied.
• The data center is designed to enable off-site heat recovery, contributing to the local energy transition.

On the talent development side, Google will launch a skills partnership with the University of Applied Science Upper Austria. Google said it has already trained more than 140,000 Austrians, and will continue expanding the skills needed for an AI-driven economy.
