Deep Research Max: A Leap Forward for Autonomous Research Agents

Google has newly introduced the autonomous research agents Deep Research and Deep Research Max, integrating Gemini 3.1 Pro. Through this update, the platform has evolved beyond a simple summarization engine into a foundation supporting professional enterprise workflows in finance, life sciences, market research, and more.

Users can choose between two configurations depending on their needs:

• Deep Research: Optimized for speed and efficiency, reducing latency and cost, and suited for conversational interfaces.
• Deep Research Max: Leverages extended test-time compute to perform iterative reasoning and search, optimized for asynchronous background tasks that generate high-quality, in-depth reports.

Additionally, support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) has been added, enabling secure connections to professional data streams, along with a new capability to directly generate high-quality charts and infographics within reports using Nano Banana.
