Auditing Claude Platform Activity with the Compliance API

For companies in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and law, detailed records of who accessed what and when are essential. The Compliance API gives admins programmatic access to audit logs across an entire Claude Platform organization, enabling security and compliance teams to track user activity and monitor configuration changes.

The API currently tracks two categories of activity:

• Admin and system activity: Actions that change the access or configuration of resources, such as adding workspace members, creating API keys, or updating account settings.
• Resource activity: User-driven actions that affect data or may access sensitive information, such as creating files, downloading files, or deleting skills.

However, inference activity, such as direct interactions with the model, is not logged.

To use this feature, it must be enabled through your account team, and only activity from the point of activation onward is recorded. Organizations already using the Compliance API for Claude Enterprise can add their Claude API organization under the same parent organization to manage everything through a single, unified feed.
