AI Replacement Documentation in China

In China, some companies are having employees document workflows and detailed procedures, using this as material for AI agent automation.

According to MIT Technology Review, frontline employees are finding themselves organizing repetitive tasks so that agent tools like OpenClaw can follow them.

This trend is not merely about internal efficiency improvements—it is being interpreted as an early case of an actual transition in which human work is being replaced by AI.

At the same time, as the spread of OpenClaw-type agents accelerates in China, some government agencies and state-owned enterprises have warned employees against installing them, citing security risks.

Pushback is also emerging among employees. Some are creating tools that turn manuals into non-executable sentences in an attempt to slow down AI replacement.
