GPT-5.5 in AI Gateway

GPT-5.5 is now available on Vercel AI Gateway. Two models are offered: GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.5 Pro.

Both models are tuned for long-running agentic tasks, and are described as more token-efficient than the previous generation in coding, computer use, knowledge work, and scientific research. In particular, GPT-5.5 excels at agentic coding and long-running tasks, maintaining context while continuing changes across large codebases.

When combined with computer use capabilities, it can also operate real software to turn source material into documents, spreadsheets, and slides. GPT-5.5 Pro is built for multi-step tasks where result quality matters more than latency, and it was noted to show strength in multi-pass review and argument verification for business, legal, education, data science, and technical research.

To use it, specify the model in the AI SDK as openai/gpt-5.5 or openai/gpt-5.5-pro. AI Gateway provides a unified API for model calls, along with usage and cost tracking, retries, failover, performance optimization, BYOK, observability, custom reporting, and automatic routing.
