Google preparing Gemini credits and image section

Strings related to usage limits have been found in the latest Gemini app build, raising the possibility that Google may attach a monthly credit system to the core chat screen.

Currently, Gemini uses prompt limits and time restrictions by subscription tier, but the credit method is only applied to Flow, Whisk, Antigravity, and top-ups for AI Pro/Ultra. If the same structure is brought into the main app, it could change to a system that manages usage across models and features from a single balance, with additional top-ups when exceeded.

A dedicated image section marked NEW has also appeared in the web UI. It remains unclear whether this is simply an entry point for image generation, a signal of a new model, or an editor within Gemini.

• High-load tasks: cost prediction may become easier for agentic tasks, Deep Research, Deep Think, and long multimodal sessions.
• Strategy: it has been suggested that Google may consolidate this into a shared credit pool bundling Gemini, AI Studio, Antigravity, Flow, and the image editor.
• Timing: the possibility of an announcement at Google I/O (May 19-20) was also mentioned.
