Cybersecurity in the Intelligence Age

Artificial intelligence is helping security teams detect vulnerabilities, automate responses, and recover faster, while at the same time giving attackers greater scale and sophistication.

OpenAI, viewing the U.S. and its allies as facing a rapidly changing cyber threat landscape, has unveiled an Action Plan based on discussions with cybersecurity and national security experts from federal and state governments and major private companies.

The plan consists of five pillars.

• Democratizing cyber defense
• Strengthening coordination between government and industry
• Enhancing security around frontier cyber capability
• Maintaining visibility and control during deployment
• Providing users with means of self-protection

The core idea is to give trusted actors broader access to defensive tools that should be usable across society. OpenAI emphasized that, building on democratic institutions and processes, access to technology that protects communities, critical systems, and national security must be expanded in order to strengthen resilience in the Intelligence Age.
