ISC'26 TOP500: A New No. 1 Has Emerged

The 67th TOP500 list was announced at ISC 2026 in Hamburg, Germany, and China's LineShine supercomputer in Shenzhen has risen to the new No. 1 position. This marks an achievement 9 years in the making since China first entered the TOP500.

The LineShine system stands out as a large-scale system built entirely CPU-only, without GPUs. Its key specifications are as follows.

• CPU (LX2): Equipped with the LX2 processor, which complies with the Armv9 specification and supports SVE2 and SME
• Core configuration: Provides 304 active cores per LX2 package (152 cores per die)
• Compute performance: Achieves 60.3 TFLOP/s of compute performance on an FP64 basis
• Memory architecture: A hierarchical structure combining 32GB of on-package High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) with 256GB of DDR5 memory

This result is being seen as an important indicator that China is building its own independent high-performance computing infrastructure.
