Anthropic Releases Analysis of Claude User Usage Patterns

According to Anthropic's June 26 Economic Index Report, a change to the data pipeline enabled an analysis of hourly usage patterns among users, which has now been released.

Key usage patterns:

• By time of day: At 5 AM, sleep-related advice is concentrated; at 7 AM, news-related questions peak; and between 10–11 AM, business email writing is concentrated. In the evening, demand for recipe requests and media recommendations surges.
• By day of week: On weekdays, about 65% of conversations are work-related, while on weekends this drops to 50%, with personal topics such as emotional support, medical questions, and investment advice increasing.
• Notable case: On April 14, the day before the U.S. tax filing deadline, tax-related conversations surged to 8 times the usual level.

Claude Code and API users:

• Personal use accounts for a smaller share compared to general users, and on weekends, more work is done on backend architecture and API debugging.
• Meanwhile, tasks that increase on weekends include AI agent design, quant trading, and gaming.
