Gemini Spark Update: macOS Launch, App Connections, and More

Google announced a new update for Gemini Spark that expands the desktop experience and strengthens cross-app connectivity. The key update details are as follows.

Gemini Spark for macOS Launch

• Directly controls the user's Mac desktop files and apps to automate tasks. For example, it can sort PDF files in the Downloads folder into a specific folder, or create a budget spreadsheet in Google Workspace based on invoices on the computer.
• In the future, a feature will also be added to remotely direct tasks from mobile. (e.g., finding a specific report on the Mac, extracting the revenue figure, and sending it via email)
• Currently, a beta version is available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US.

App Ecosystem Expansion and Custom Connections

• Integrates with Google Tasks and Google Keep, allowing memos to be instantly converted into to-do lists.
• Also supports integration with external services such as Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, Zillow Rentals, enabling design, file sharing, and reservations.
• Through Model Context Protocol (MCP) support, users can directly connect their preferred apps to build a customized assistant.

Real-Time Topic Tracking Feature

• Monitors and responds in real time to topics or events specified by the user. This ranges from checking soccer match results to sending a financial report when a specific stock price is reached.
• Provides information by tracking various fields such as news, social media, weather, and sports in real time.
