Simon Willison adds iNaturalist sightings records to his blog

Building on a successful prototype he made the previous day, Simon Willison pulled bird and wildlife photos taken with his new camera, the Canon R6 Mark II, from iNaturalist and added them to the Sightings section of his blog.

He built it with Claude Code for web on his phone, extending his existing beats system for external content syndication. Sightings appear alongside the homepage, date archives, and site search results.

• He retroactively applied it to over 10 years of accumulated iNaturalist records.
• Searching lemur in the search box now also surfaces photos from Madagascar in 2019.
• He published the PR and the prompts he used to implement it.
