AI Suggests Possibility of Curing All Diseases Within 10 Years

Derya Unutmaz, an immunology professor at Jackson Laboratory, predicted that AI will bring revolutionary change to the fields of medicine and drug development.

He cited a research case from OpenAI, introducing an example in which an AI model presented an explanation of a cancer treatment mechanism in just 17 minutes and even proposed experiments to verify it. This represents a dramatic reduction of work that would normally take researchers months to complete.

Professor Unutmaz analyzed that AI will accelerate the entire process of scientific research, from hypothesis generation to experimental design, and result analysis and write-up. Based on this technological progress, he predicted that there is a 99% probability that all diseases, including cancer, could be cured within 10 years.
