Rebuttal to the data center land controversy

Andy Masley pointed out that the total amount of land voluntarily sold by farmers from 2000 to 2024 is equivalent in size to the state of Colorado, and that this scale is 77 times the total footprint of data center sites projected for 2028. Despite this, he emphasized that there were no problems with food access in the United States, and that more food was produced on the remaining land.

He cited the example of a farmer in Loudoun County who sold a few acres of low-quality hay field to a hyperscaler for 10 times its agricultural value, arguing that claiming 'farmland is scarce' based on this is an exaggeration.
