Anthropic Developing Next-Generation Proactive Assistant Orbit

Anthropic is preparing a new proactive assistant called Orbit. Related scaffolding and configuration toggles have recently been spotted in web and mobile builds, and it appears to still be ahead of a broad rollout.

Orbit is described as a proactive briefing and insight system spanning Claude and Claude Code. It is designed to be opt-in, with users turning it on themselves, and the concept is to deliver personalized briefings and actionable insights from connected work tools, reflecting the user's time zone.

The initial connectors are tailored to the daily stack of knowledge workers.

Anthropic's Code with Claude developer event also kicks off on May 6 in San Francisco, followed by London on May 19 and Tokyo on June 10. Whether Orbit will be unveiled on that stage is uncertain, but the build changes suggest the feature is entering the final stages before launch.

For context, OpenAI was first to market with ChatGPT Pulse last September, offering overnight briefings, and similar moves are visible at Google's Gemini and Perplexity. Anthropic appears to be aiming for a briefing layer centered on developer and creative workflows by adding GitHub and Figma to the mix.
