Jensen Huang Emphasizes 'AI Will Create Massive Job Growth'

In a conversation with the Milken Institute, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that, contrary to the claims of so-called 'AI doomers' who argue AI will cause mass unemployment, AI will become a tool for industrial-scale job creation.

Huang explained that AI represents a key opportunity to re-industrialize the United States. He argued that new types of factories will be needed to produce the hardware infrastructure underpinning the AI industry, and that this process will require a massive workforce.

He also argued that a distinction should be made between 'tasks' and 'jobs.' His reasoning is that even if specific tasks are automated, the overall role and function an employee performs within an organization is likely to be preserved.

Meanwhile, Huang cautioned against excessive fear of AI hindering technology adoption. However, some institutions, including BCG, have offered predictions suggesting that AI could eliminate about 15% of U.S. jobs in the coming years, pointing to economic uncertainty.
