HuggingChat Uses Spaces as Tools

HuggingChat has added a Community Tools feature, allowing users to turn their favorite Hugging Face Space into a tool the model can use directly.

This makes it possible to extend various modalities—such as image understanding, video generation, and text-to-speech (TTS)—for use within HuggingChat.

Key ways to use it:

• Using existing Spaces: Entering the URL of a public Space automatically sets up its functions and parameters, registering it as a tool.
• Building custom tools: You can use Spaces you've built yourself with Python and Gradio as tools. For example, you could implement something like random number generation, which LLMs find difficult to do.
• Enhancing assistants: Created tools can be packaged into a specific assistant to upgrade its capabilities.
