Claude Chat Launches Editable 'Memory Files' Feature

A new Memory files feature has been introduced to Claude Chat. Unlike the existing automatic memory method, it separates and provides the information Claude has learned about the user in the form of organized notes.

Users can directly edit the generated memory content, allowing them to actively manage the information the AI remembers.

However, currently, the feature to migrate existing automatic memory data into the new memory file format is not supported. To preserve existing memory content, a manual process is required in which users copy their existing summary and ask Claude to remember it again.
