SpaceX Leases Supercomputer to Anthropic

Elon Musk's SpaceX has agreed to lease Colossus 1, one of the world's largest supercomputers, to AI startup Anthropic.

The deal is seen as a strategic move to boost SpaceX's valuation ahead of its IPO (initial public offering). Musk recently integrated xAI into SpaceX (SpaceXAi), positioning SpaceX not merely as a rocket company but as an AI Hyperscaler.

Key details are as follows:

• Securing profitability: Analysts project that this deal will generate $3 billion to $4 billion in annual revenue and more than $2.5 billion in cash profit for SpaceX.
• Optimizing compute resources: Colossus 1, which houses about 220,000 Nvidia GPUs, has more capacity than Musk's AI, Grok, needs, while it is exactly what the rapidly growing Anthropic requires.
• Business model shift: Rather than competing directly on models, Musk aims to secure massive margins by playing the role of "landlord of AI", supplying compute resources to AI model companies.

However, experts point out that SpaceX still faces many hurdles—such as energy costs and geographic requirements—to compete with existing Big Tech companies that already operate global data center networks.
