ByteDance Launches Seedream 5.0 Pro with Advanced Reasoning Capabilities

ByteDance Seed has launched Seedream 5.0 Pro, a multimodal model that goes beyond simple image generation to support professional design work. The model targets creators, designers, marketers, and others, and specializes in sophisticated layout composition and editing capabilities.

The key upgrades in Seedream 5.0 Pro are as follows:

• Complex information visualization: Generation of infographics, posters, UI mockups, and educational visuals
• Precision editing features: Modification of specific areas via point, lasso, box selection, and sketching
• High-quality textures: Support for realistic lighting, materials, skin texture, and person compositing
• Multilingual support: Text generation and layout support in 14+ languages, including Korean

Notably, this model supports a layer separation feature that allows editing of specific elements without needing to regenerate the entire image. This enables posters to be edited by separating them into text, subject, and background, and naturally restores areas of the background that were obscured.

A developer API is currently available via BytePlus ModelArk, which also includes functionality to generate a single image from text or to generate images using 2–10 reference images.
