OpenAI Launches DeployCo to Help Enterprises Build AI

OpenAI has launched OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo), an organization dedicated to enterprise AI deployment and operations, and agreed to acquire Tomoro, an applied AI consulting and engineering firm. Through this acquisition, about 150 Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and Deployment Specialists will join from the outset.

DeployCo will operate as a joint partnership between OpenAI and 19 global investment, consulting, and SI partners. TPG is leading the effort, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield joining as founding partners. OpenAI will grow DeployCo with an initial investment of more than $4 billion, while retaining majority ownership and control. DeployCo will also collaborate with OpenAI's Frontier Alliance partners and the broader industry to expand adoption and change management worldwide.

OpenAI noted that more than 1 million businesses have already adopted its products and APIs. It believes the next stage depends not on the models themselves, but on how deeply they are embedded into actual workflows.

DeployCo's execution approach is as follows.

• Work with customers to diagnose where AI can deliver the greatest value.
• Have leadership and operations teams identify a handful of priority workflows.
• FDEs connect the model to the customer's data, tools, controls, and business processes, handling design, testing, and deployment.

Tomoro brings experience building real-time AI systems for companies such as Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, and Supercell. Through this acquisition, OpenAI plans to accelerate the process from use-case selection to operational deployment, and expects the deal to close within a few months, subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval.
