GitHub Copilot personal plans: flex allotments added to Pro and Pro+, new Max plan introduced

GitHub Copilot has reorganized its personal plans ahead of the usage-based billing transition taking effect June 1. Pro and Pro+ keep the same price while gaining an additional flex allotment that increases total included usage, and a new higher-tier plan called Max is also being introduced.

The personal lineup now consists of Free, Pro, Pro+, and Max. Free continues to offer limited monthly code completions along with limited chat and agent usage, and the monthly included usage for paid plans is split into two parts: base credits and flex allotment. Base credits are fixed 1:1 with the subscription price, while flex can vary over time.

As of June 1, the included usage is as follows.

• Pro: $10/month, base $10, flex $5, total $15
• Pro+: $39/month, base $39, flex $31, total $70
• Max: $100/month, base $100, flex $100, total $200

Once base credits are used up, flex is automatically applied at the same rate across the IDE, github.com, and CLI. If the entire included amount is used up, users can purchase additional usage to keep going, and on paid plans, code completions and next edit suggestions remain unlimited and do not consume credits. Users who are already on a monthly Pro or Pro+ plan don't need to take any action and can simply wait for the automatic transition on June 1.
