Gemini Intelligence - Proactive AI Features Introduced to Android

Google is redefining Android as not just an operating system but an intelligent system, bringing a new set of Proactive AI features called Gemini Intelligence to its latest devices.

The core idea is that Gemini handles repetitive tasks on the user's behalf.

• Multi-step task automation: It performs multi-step flows such as food ordering, ride-sharing, and schedule-related tasks in the background.
• It also handles more complex tasks using screen or image context. For example, it can create a delivery cart based on a shopping list, or find tours by referencing a photographed brochure.
• Progress is shown via notifications, and final confirmation is left to the user.

The web experience is also being expanded.

• Gemini in Chrome will be available on Android starting late June.
• It helps with web research, summarization, and content comparison, while Chrome auto browse handles simple repetitive tasks like making reservations or securing parking spots.

Input and writing experiences are also changing.

• Google Autofill now leverages Gemini's Personal Intelligence to fill out more complex forms across apps and Chrome.
• This connection is fully opt-in and can be turned off anytime in settings.
• Rambler removes fillers and repetitions from voice input, turning it into more polished sentences.
• Create My Widget lets users generate custom widgets from just a natural language description and add them to the home screen.

These features will roll out first on the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer, expanding to Wear OS, cars, glasses, and laptops later this year. Google stated that users retain control over all features, and that privacy was designed as a core principle.
