Introducing ChatGPT agent

ChatGPT now introduces the ChatGPT agent feature, which thinks and acts on its own, using a dedicated virtual computer to complete complex tasks. Users can give high-level instructions such as checking schedules and receiving briefings, planning grocery purchases, or analyzing competitors and creating slides.

This agent is a system that unifies the strengths of the existing Operator (web interaction) and deep research (information synthesis). The agent is equipped with a toolset that provides direct access to a visual browser, a text-based browser, a terminal, and APIs.

Key features are as follows:

• Tool integration: Clicking websites, filtering, running code, and downloading and editing files are all performed within a single workflow.
• Connector usage: It can connect with external apps such as Gmail and GitHub to make use of personalized information.
• User control: It always requests permission before important actions, and users can intervene or stop it at any time.

Pro, Plus, and Team users can start using it immediately by selecting 'agent mode' from the tools dropdown in the chat window.
