Google announces Gemma 4 optimized for Pixel 10's TPU

Google unveiled the Gemma 4 E2B model, designed to run natively on the Tensor G5 TPU of the Pixel 10 series. This model is described as a 'state-of-the-art yet extremely lightweight model,' and supports the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and 10 Pro Fold models.

Through its multimodal capabilities, it provides the following on-device AI experiences:

• AI Chat: Instant, in-depth offline conversations possible even without an internet connection
• Ask Image: Identify objects, plants, and more just by taking a photo, without internet
• Ask Audio: 100% private on-device audio transcription for lectures or notes

Additionally, a Mobile Actions feature was demonstrated, allowing users to control core device functions—such as Wi-Fi settings or launching Maps—by voice or text. Real-world use cases presented include a retail service that generates in-store shopping maps based on recipes while offline, and an automotive repair service that provides instant diagnostics from photos of parts.
