Gemini Intelligence Comes to Android

Google unveiled new features based on Gemini Intelligence at Android Show: I/O Edition. Following the agentic features—such as ordering and calling a ride—shown earlier this year at the Samsung Galaxy S26 event, this time the scope has expanded across Android as a whole.

The core is multi-step tasks that span across apps. Users just press the power button and speak their task, and Gemini uses the on-screen content as context to work across multiple apps before getting a confirmation before final payment.

Key features include the following.

• Moving a shopping list from a notes app into a shopping app's cart
• Browsing the web on the user's behalf to perform tasks like booking an appointment
• Auto-filling forms based on information learned via Personal Intelligence, a feature that is opt-in and can be turned off in settings
• Dictation via Gboard's Rambler that preserves tone while trimming filler
• A vibe-coding feature that creates Android widgets from just a natural-language description

The automatic browsing feature, which had an experimental release in January, is also expanding to Android, and Gemini in Chrome for Android will be added in late June. Google said these features follow the Material 3 expressive design language, and will roll out first to the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer, before expanding to other Android devices later this year.
