Sora Officially Launches

OpenAI has officially launched its video generation model Sora via sora.com, moving it out of the research preview stage. This launch includes Sora Turbo, which is much faster than the preview model from last February, and it is now available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users.

Users can take advantage of a variety of features, including:

• Generating videos up to 1080p resolution and 20 seconds in length
• Support for various aspect ratios, including widescreen, vertical, and square
• Prompt input using text, images, and video, along with a storyboard tool for precise frame control
• Extending, remixing, and blending videos using existing assets

Plus account users can generate up to 50 videos per month at 480p resolution, and a Pro plan is also available for those who want higher resolution, longer videos, and 10 times more usage. However, availability is currently restricted in the UK, Switzerland, and the European Economic Area (EEA).

For safety, all generated videos include C2PA metadata and a watermark so their origin can be verified. Strong safety guidelines have also been applied, such as blocking the generation of child sexual abuse material and sexual deepfakes.
