Building AI-powered Magic Studio

Canva, a visual communication platform used by more than 175 million people monthly, unveiled Magic Studio, an integrated AI suite, to transform the design process. Canva adopted OpenAI's GPT-4 as its foundation model to integrate powerful generative AI features while keeping the user experience simple.

Magic Studio is designed to effectively handle various modalities—text, images, video, and more—within a single workflow, with key features as follows.

• Magic Write: A writing tool built on the OpenAI API that supports the entire writing process, including drafting, paragraph generation, rewriting, summarizing, and grammar checking.
• Magic Design: Combines the OpenAI API with Canva's own design engine to automatically generate presentations, social media posts, videos, and more based on user-entered prompts.
• Magic Switch: A tool that converts design formats with a single click. It performs tasks such as instant translation into more than 100 languages through GPT-4's multilingual support, or converting a poster into a presentation.

Through close collaboration with OpenAI, Canva is focused on deploying safe and responsible AI technology. It also supports users in generating high-quality images within Canva or creating design assets through conversation via the DALL-E app and Canva GPT. To date, Canva's AI products have been used more than 5 billion times worldwide.
