Claude Moves Programmatic Usage to a "Monthly Credits" Structure

Starting June 15, Claude paid plans will draw programmatic usage—such as the Agent SDK and claude -p—from dedicated monthly credits first. This is separate from the existing Claude Code and chat subscription limits.

This applies to:

• Python or TypeScript projects using the Claude Agent SDK
• Claude Code's claude -p non-interactive mode
• Claude Code GitHub Actions
• Third-party apps and tools that use Claude subscription authentication via the Agent SDK

Conversely, the following remain under the existing subscription limits:

• Interactive Claude Code in the terminal or IDE
• Claude conversations in the web, desktop, and mobile apps
• Claude Cowork
• Other features that fall under extra usage

Credits are attributed on a per-individual basis and cannot be shared, pooled, or rolled over across teams. They reset at the start of the billing cycle, and after a one-time opt-in for billing, they auto-renew every subsequent cycle.

Once the monthly credits are used up, usage can continue at standard API rates only if usage credits is turned on. If this option is off, Agent SDK requests will be halted until the next reset.

Monthly credits by plan are Pro $20, Max 5x $100, Max 20x $200, Team Standard $20 per seat, Team Premium $100 per seat, and Enterprise varies by seat type. A notification email will go out on June 8, and the change takes effect on June 15.
