Codex is now integrated into the ChatGPT mobile app

With Codex now built into the ChatGPT mobile app, you can check on and immediately intervene in tasks running on your laptop, devbox, or remote environment from your phone. OpenAI stated that over 4 million weekly users are currently using Codex.

The mobile app pulls in active threads, approvals, plugins, project context, and real-time status, letting you pick up work across multiple devices.

• Files, credentials, permissions, and local settings remain on the executing machine.
• Only screenshots, terminal output, diffs, test results, and approvals are delivered through a secure relay layer.
• Session state and context are synced across every location where you're logged into ChatGPT.

Remote SSH is now generally available, allowing direct connections to managed remote environments. You can coordinate long-running tasks started on desktop from your phone, and Codex app connectivity for Windows is coming soon.

Team automation and customization have also been strengthened.

• Programmatic access tokens: scope-limited credentials for CI, release workflows, and internal automation
• Hooks: secret scanning, running validators, conversation logging, memory creation, and customizing behavior per repository/directory

Rollout is proceeding as an iOS/Android preview, with Remote SSH and Hooks available on all plans. To use these features, you need to update the ChatGPT mobile app and the Codex app for macOS, and Programmatic access tokens are limited to Enterprise/Business. HIPAA compliance applies only to local Codex use in eligible Enterprise workspaces.
