A Few Words on DS4

DwarfStar 4 (DS4) is a local AI inference engine optimized for the Apple Metal environment, focused on delivering a high-performance, single-model-centric local AI experience.

For near-frontier models like DeepSeek V4 Flash, it combines 2/8-bit asymmetric quantization technology, designed to enable model execution even in 96GB or 128GB RAM environments. DS4 is not limited to a specific model, and aims to be the fastest way to run the latest open-weight models on high-performance Macs or 'GPU in a box' devices like the DGX Spark.

Depending on the nature of the question, an approach of calling specialized models such as ds4-coding, ds4-legal, ds4-medical is also being considered. The main development directions for the project going forward are as follows:

• Quality benchmarks and coding agent development
• CI (continuous integration) testing based on home hardware
• Implementation of serial and parallel distributed inference technology
