Sierra Acquires Long-Horizon AI Agent Platform TakeOff

Sierra, led by former Salesforce CTO Bret Taylor, has acquired TakeOff, a leader in the long-horizon AI agent space. The acquisition is being interpreted as more than just a technology grab—it's a strategic move to seize the enterprise autonomous multi-step application market.

Unlike existing one-shot chatbots, long-horizon AI agents have the ability to plan and execute complex sequences that last from minutes to days. They maintain state without continuous human intervention, adapt to changing goals, and coordinate various tools and APIs to carry out tasks.

While the specific acquisition price and detailed terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it's notable that industry experts such as Clay Bavor, formerly of Google, are involved. Through this acquisition, Sierra plans to build an end-to-end solution capable of automating supply chain logistics, cloud resource orchestration, and complex customer service workflows.
