Google Preparing to Bring Skills to Gemini and AI Studio

Google is preparing to expand Skills functionality across Gemini. Skills are reusable sets of instructions that help the model produce more consistent results, while also enabling it to use specific tools and capabilities when needed.

This feature was previously spotted in development for Gemini for Enterprise, and now Skills and Schedules sub-tabs have begun appearing within the Agent tab in consumer Gemini as well. When combined with Schedules, users can build automated workflows that run repeatedly, moving closer to a persistent agent experience beyond one-off prompts.

The Build section of AI Studio, used by developers and power users, is also likely to be next in line. In line with the trend of growing AI Studio into a more complete development environment, there's even talk of wrapping the web version into a desktop app, though this remains speculative for now.
