Claude Tells Users to Get Some Sleep

Anthropic's AI chatbot Claude has become a hot topic online for encouraging users to sleep during sessions.

Hypotheses currently being raised include an intentional feature to promote user well-being, and an attempt to reduce computing costs by discouraging prolonged use.

The most plausible explanation is thought to be related to context window management. LLMs have a limited amount of information they can reference at once, and experts note that as the context window nears capacity, the model becomes more likely to use closing expressions like "good night."

Further research from Anthropic is needed to pin down the exact cause.
