Introducing Character Casting Feature for Audiobooks

ElevenLabs has introduced the Character Casting feature to its audiobook service, enabling writers to bring their imagined character voices to life. When a user uploads a manuscript, the AI automatically detects the characters and suggests suitable voices for each one.

This feature goes beyond simply adding voices, offering the following workflow.

• Characters: Identifies characters based on dialogue in the manuscript and provides optimal voice suggestions and previews
• Pronunciation: Automatically extracts unfamiliar names, place names, and terms appearing in the manuscript to build a pronunciation dictionary
• Delivery: Sets pause (Break) lengths for consistent pacing across paragraphs and chapters

With Character Casting, changing a character's voice instantly updates all of that character's lines throughout the entire book. It also supports over 90 languages and a voice library of over 10,000 voices, and users can clone their own voice to use for narration themselves.

While traditional audiobook production methods used to cost thousands of dollars per finished hour and take months of time, this technology shortens production time to just a few minutes and allows producers to directly control the tone of every character's voice.
