Gemini CLI will be discontinued starting June 18, 2026

Google is effectively ending personal availability of Gemini CLI and shifting its focus to the successor product, Antigravity CLI.

• Starting June 18, 2026, Gemini CLI and Gemini Code Assist IDE extensions will no longer process requests for Google AI Pro/Ultra users and free individual users.
• Gemini Code Assist for GitHub will also block new installations from the same date, and request processing will stop within a few weeks after that.
• Google has immediately released Antigravity CLI for transition purposes, and will provide migration documentation and video guides.
• Antigravity CLI retains Agent Skills, Hooks, Subagents, and Extensions, but Extensions will become Antigravity plugins.
• Google explained that Antigravity CLI's strengths include faster execution, asynchronous multi-agent tasks, and a common agent harness.
• However, feature parity with Gemini CLI is not guaranteed at initial launch.
• Enterprise customers are an exception. GitHub users with Standard/Enterprise licenses or through Google Cloud will retain existing access, and Gemini CLI can also continue to be used with paid Gemini and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform API keys.
