Imagine Image 2.0 Released

SpaceXAI has released the image generation and editing model Image 2.0. Image 2.0 is generally available via Quality Mode on grok.com/imagine and the Grok apps for iOS and Android, with API support to follow.

The model aims to deliver results suitable for real-world work by enhancing instruction adherence and layout and typography handling. It maintains composition in complex multi-element images, generates small text clearly, and preserves original elements through multiple generations and edits.

Key editing features include:

• Magic Wand: Edits only the specified area while preserving the rest
• Segmentation: Precisely selects areas to change within an image
• Background Removal: Extracts subjects onto transparent backgrounds
• Multi-reference Editing: Utilizes up to 5 input images at once
• Smart Resize: Automatically expands images to fit selected aspect ratios

Image 2.0 improves fidelity across photography, design, and illustration, ranking 2nd globally in both the Text-to-Image Arena and Image Edit Arena as of August 7, 2026.

Templates are also provided for use cases such as photo retouching, product images, headshots, icons, game assets, emojis, and merchandise creation. Additionally, it supports world-building for video, allowing the generation of characters, locations, and props while maintaining consistent styles across images.
