Google Beam Improves Group Meetings with New Experiment

Google Beam has unveiled a new experiment that enhances the presence of remote participants in meetings with multiple people.

Using HP Dimension's immersive display, Beam shows participants joining from non-Beam devices at actual size, positioning them as if they were sitting around the table. This is combined with spatial audio to tune each voice so it connects directly to the person speaking.

This optimization is applied automatically, even when joining from home or the office. Google explained that this approach helps reduce the 'inclusion gap' in hybrid meetings, increasing feelings of social connection by 50% and the likelihood of contributing to the conversation by 21%.

Google is also continuing to pursue integrations with Google Workspace and Zoom to improve current meeting environments.
